A piece of music lasting for over 56 years, Monochrome Cicada Epitome has been created so that if you open the app at any point within the next 56 years the piece will catch up to where you would be. This is done by various parts 'entering' over a few minutes. A counter shows you what percentage of the total piece is currently playing, once at 100% then the piece is playing as it should.
Based on the mathematical interplay of the prime numbers up to 23* the piece uses the phasing process of minimalism combined with field recordings, synth noise, drone, amplified metal and poetry. These are each also manipulated by further processes in order to create an ever shifting non-repeating soundscape.
Created for the (in)commensurable exhibition December 2015.
